Police recover cache of arms, nab vehicle snatchers in Borno

The Borno State Police Command; has recovered a cache of arms and
ammunition, after a Boko Haram ambush on Monday evening along
Maiduguri/Damaturu road.
The recovered arms include eight AK-47 rifles, two each of
Anti-Aircraft Guns, a Multipurpose Machine Guns and magazines with 57
rounds of ammunition, and 270 rounds of ammunition.
While announcing recoveries Tuesday in Maiduguri, the Police
Commissioner, Mohammed Aliyu disclosed that; “Our men got hint that
there was an attack in Auno yesterday (Monday) by 4.20pm along
Maiduguri/Damaturu road.
“On reaching the scene, there was an upturn Hilux vehicle on fire;
with a corpse not in uniform,” noting that the body is also being
suspected of Boko Haram insurgent.
Besides recovery of arms, he said that four suspected vehicle
snatchers were also arrested in Maiduguri metropolis.
When asked whether recovered arms and ammunition belong to either the
Army or Boko Haram.
He said that the police are yet to established, whether or not the
recovered arms belong to army or insurgents.
As the briefing, was being concluded yesterday at the police
headquarters, some soldiers in a patrol vehicle visited Aliyu to
identify and ascertain the cache of arms.
