Equally, the Nasarawa State Government has earlier on Friday received two Motorised Modular Fumigators from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi II presented on his behalf by HRM, Asoya of Ile-Isoya, Osun state, Oba Muraina Adedini.
The donation was made at the Banquette Hall of the Government House in Lafia during an event which drew some high calibre personalities, including Deputy Governor, State Commissioner of Police, Bola E. Longe, top government functionaries and traditional rulers led by Emir of Lafia Rtd. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad.
In his introductory speech earlier at the Deputy Governor’s office, the Ooni’s Director of Media & Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare explained that the monarch has donated the items to support Nasarawa state government in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in fulfillment of his free donations of 2 of his modular motorized fumigators to each of the 36 states of Nigeria and Abuja FCT.
Receiving the equipment from the monarch on behalf of Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, the state Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe who doubles as the Chairman, COVID-19 Task Force in the State lauded Ooni Ogunwusi for his kind contribution to stem the tide of the virus in the state, saying the state government would use the fumigators effectively to contain the pandemic.
Speaking at the two events, the Chairman of the Ooni Covid-19 Intervention Team(OCIT) who is also Head of the Community Health Department of the OAUTH, Ile-Ife, Professor Olapeju Esimai said the motorized modular fumigator was initiated and locally fabricated by the Ooni of Ife as part of his contributions to the response to COVID19 pandemic.
According to the Professor of Public Health, the equipment is unique because of its foggy fumigation mechanism unlike the common liquid fumigators.
“The motorized modular fumigator is an Invention of the House of Oduduwa Machine Tools & part of the contribution of his Imperial Majesty to the response to COVID19 pandemic. It is a locally fabricated fumigator that is unique because it uses the foggy fumigation mechanism unlike the liquid fumigation which is commonly carried out. Liquid disinfectant is converted to fog and forms droplets and this enables the disinfectant destroy viruses in droplets
The fumigator is motorised hence minimal contact with the disinfectant & it covers a wide range of about 20-30fts radius. It fumigate faster as its dispensing pressure is high and its moved by trucks.” Prof Esimai said.
