Zulum Unfolds Borno’s 25-Year Development Framework

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has unfolded a 25-year
development framework with strategic implementation pillars.
According to him; the state’s strategy is being formulated under the
nine-point strategic pillars.
Special Adviser and Coordinator, Sustainable Development, Partnership
and Humanitarian Support (SDPPHS), Dr. Mairo Mandara; disclosed this
Wednesday at an inter-ministerial briefings in Maiduguri.
She said that the “strategic development framework,” is being
implemented by the State Government, partners and stakeholders in 10
years.
“The strategy for the transformation of state; is focused on ensuring
all citizens and residents do not just survive; but thrive at each
stage of life,” she said.
She said the nine strategic pillars; include human capital
development, leadership in agriculture, health citizenry, sustainable
environment and regional trade hub.
Dr. Mairo added that purposeful infrastructure, accounted governance
and reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of communities and
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) comprise the three other strategic
pillars.
Speaking on peace and security pillar, she said: “We shall work with
the Federal Government, partners, security agencies, neighbouring
countries in ensuring peace and security for all.
“This shall be a core consideration in our approach and action,” she noted.
On mission of strategic pillars, she said: “It is to restore the
honour, dignity and prosperity of Borno state, while ensuring that all
citizens and future generations have access to basic necessities,”
stating that they are to thrive at every stage of life.
According to her, the aspiration of Borno state by 2030 is to be
self-reliant with over 70% of population productive in various sectors
of economy.
She said this will lead to a ‘sustainable and inclusive’ poverty
reduction and job creation through value chain development and
commerce.
“The 25-year development framework is an inclusive economic, social
and development transformation of Borno state,” she declared.
On being accounted for 10-year implementation, she said: “We shall
have a transparent and accountable government and institution at all
levels.
“We shall actively collate and analyze data for better and timely
decision making processes on the nine strategic pillars.
“We will also promote and live by culture of accountability, good
governance and high performance in executing agreed strategies, plans
and projects.”
