Zulum Sets Committee To Adjust Boundaries In Borno

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulu has constituted a 13-member
state boundary committee.
According to him, the boundary committee members; are to adjust the
boundaries of five councils with the state.
Shuwa; in a statement Friday in Maiduguri, disclosed that; “The
Governor’s constituted boundary committee, is being headed by Deputy
Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur.
“The Ministerial Secretary of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special
Duties will serve as secretary of committee.”
Other members of committee include permanent secretaries for the
ministries of inter-governmental affairs and special duties, local
government and emirate affairs.
“The Executive Secretary, Borno State Geographic Information Service
(BOGIS), Surveyor General of BOGIS and representatives of General
Officer Commanding, 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Commissioner of Police,
Directorate of State Security Service, Comptrollers of Customs and
Immigration Services,” said Shuwa.
According to him, the committee will be inaugurated in due course.
The Googled map of UNO state of Cameroon indicated that the boundaries
of five Local Government Areas in Borno may be adjusted by committee.
The councils of Bama, Ngala, Gwoza, Dikwa and Kala/Balge in Borno
state; comprise Northern Cameroon that extends into Lake Chad.
“No less than 12 other council areas in Adamawa, Taraba, Benue and
Cross River states could be affected in the adjustments of their
boundaries.
“The adjustments of boundaries in the five states of Nigeria are in
preparation of United Nations and Stakeholders in Nigeria.
“It is in compliance of the charter and constitutional art of the
Africa Union of 2002 respect of boundaries as at independence.
“The sensitisation workshops in Gembu, Michika, Mubi, Ganye, Gashaka
and Gwoza in Nigeria; were also in accordance with rectification and
regularization of UNO state of Cameroon by UN,” said Prof. Martin Chia
Ateh, the UN workshops coordinator and chairman steering committee.
