Yobe Assembly Cuts 2020 Budget To N86 Billion

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state; has said that the coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic that resulted into global financial meltdown led
to downward review of 2020 budget.
Buni assented N108.314 billion appropriation bill into law, after the
State House of Assembly passed it last November.
In a statement Monday in Damaturu, Secretary to the State Government’s
(SSG), Press Secretary, Shuaibu Abdullah disclosed that; “The State
House of Assembly has reduced this year’s budget from N108.082 billion
to N86.049 billion.
“Recurrent expenditures after the review stood at N51.894 billion,
while capital expenditures are to gulp N34.155 billion.”
He said the 24-member legislators reduced this year’s budget by
N22.304 billion or 20.6 per cent.
According to Abdullah, the Governor commended the leadership of the
Assembly in reviewing this year’s budget over COVID-19 pandemic.
“The six-month pandemic; has affected every facets of Nigerian
economy. This includes modes of conducting businesses and other
socioeconomic activities across the globe,” he said.
