Prayers In Mosques, Churches Raise Security, Peace In Yobe, Says Buni

Jutha Gupah, Damaturu June 12, 2020. Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has called on people to pray in mosques and churches to improve peace, security and development of the state and nation. Buni made the call on Friday morning, while marking Democracy Day in Damaturu, the state capital. He said that the occasion should be used to appreciate God for uninterrupted democratic governance enjoyed in the country. “Democracy and good governance; have undoubtedly propelled speedy development in the state.

According to him, the speedy development has to be sustained and improved upon; for the betterment of state and its citizens. Speaking on completed projects in various sectors, he said: “Yobe state has moved so fast with lots of programmes and projects executed by various governments. “The completion of projects; have also improved the living conditions of people in urban and rural areas.” He therefore, urged the people to use the occasion to appreciate God for promoting democracy to thrive across the various communities.

He said the people should employ participatory governance of elected representatives to defend their collective interests at all levels. According to him, participatory elective governance; is being translated into purposeful governance and socioeconomic development. Buni assured that the state government; will promote “democracy, healthy competition, rule of law and equity in the siting of various projects across the state.” “You should continue to to remain law abiding, promote peaceful coexistence and be vigilant on issues that are inimical to peace,” he said. He expressed optimism that in spite of the security challenges facing the nation, it will however; emerge stronger with restoration of peace. End.
