FG distributes 90 tons of COVID-19, insurgency palliatives to Borno vulnerable

The Federal Government has yesterday distributed 90 tons of
coronavirus (COVID-19) and Boko Haram insurgency palliatives to
residents of Borno.
The assorted palliatives comprise 90 tons of rice, cartons and kegs of
tomato pastes and cooking oil for distribution to the vulnerable and
residents.
Borno residents, according to State’s COVID-19 response team, Umar
Kadafur, who doubles as Deputy Governor, are undergoing three-week
lockdown.
While presenting the palliatives for distribution Tuesday in
Maiduguri, Hajiya Sadiya Farouk, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs
said the relief materials intervention; was to cushion devastating
impacts of COVID-19 lockdown across the country.
Sadiya who was represented by Director of Humanitarian Affairs, Grema
Ali sympathized with Borno residents and vulnerable, who suffered from
the twin humanitarian crises of Boko Haram insurgency and COVID-19
pandemic.
“Let me conveyed Sadiya’s sympathy to people of the state who have
suffered humanitarian crisis for over a decade, including the ongoing
pandemic that claimed many lives,” he said, while presenting the
palliatives to COVID-19 response team Chairman, Kadafur.
He said the delivered palliatives, will ameliorate the hardships
suffered from the decade long insurgency and COVID-19 pandemic that
claimed many lives and property.
The Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Bukar Talba, who is also
Palliative Committee Chairman, assured the Minister of fair and
equitable distribution of received palliatives.
According to him, the palliatives will reach the vulnerable people
under three-week lock down.
