Buni distributes UNDP farm inputs to Yobe households

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni; has distributed farm inputs to 2,
000 households restore their lost livelihoods.
According to him, the distributed improved seeds and inputs; were
donated to state government by United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP).
Presenting the inputs Friday at Buni/Yadi, he said: “The UNDP targeted
Buni/Yadi council affected by decade long Boko Haram insurgency.
“These distributed improved seeds and other agricultural inputs, are
to improve agricultural activities in insurgency affected Buni/Yadi
communities.”
Continued; “These inputs are part of the UNDP’s support to the
regional stabilization programme to the insurgency-ravaged areas of
the state.”
Buni, represented by Dr. Abubakar Iliya, the State Commissioner for
Humanitarian Affairs said: “The distributed farm inputs include
improved seeds for millet, sorghum, maize, rice, cowpea, groundnut,”
adding that fertilizer, insecticides, herbicides and knapsack sprayers
were also distributed to each of farming households.
While speaking on coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, he said: “The
orderly manner, in which this programme is being conducted, especially
in this period of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world, is
commendable.
“I urge you to observe all necessary precautions, including personal
hygiene; frequent hand washing, physical distancing and wearing of
face masks at public gatherings.”
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Mairo Amshi, urged the
beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of farm inputs.
“You should always consult agricultural extension agents for advice on
agricultural activities being embarked in various farming
communities,” she said.
