Buni Completes 53 Projects, Despite COVID-19 Pandemic, Financial Meltdown

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state; has said that financial meltdown
and the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic; will not prevent completion
of projects in health, education and infrastructural sectors.
According to him, fifty three projects have been completed; with three
more years of administration embark on new ones across the state.
Buni made the declarations Saturday through his Spokesman, Mamman
Mohammed; to mark one year anniversary of All Progressive Congress
(APC) administration.
“If we can do this in the first year, you can imagine what will happen
in the next three years running to improve people’s living
conditions,” he said.
He said that the state Government has not suspended any project,
neither because of COVID-19 pandemic nor the global financial
meltdown.
While speaking on completed projects, Mohammed said: “None of the
projects that the governor inherited from the past administration or
initiated have stopped since his takeover of administration on May 29,
2019.
According to him; “All projects initiated or taken over by this
administration are seeing the light of the day in terms of
completion,” adding that; “The key project that I want you to note is
the new airport.”
He said that the N11.33 billion airport project initiated by the
previous administration, is expected for first test landing on the
runway.
“This is a sign that the airport project is about to be completed by
the contractors,” he said.
On road projects, he said: “If you look at the road projects, this
administration inherited some of them that were initiated by the
previous administration.
“They included Damaturu/Kallawan airport road dualization, 4km
Damaturu/Potiskum road dualization and other roads projects sited
across the state.
“None of the projects either initiated or inherited by this
administration were abandoned.”
According to him, the completion of 53 projects, were as a result of
prudent management of resources by the Governor.
On resuscitation of dormant industries and healthcare facilities, he
said: “The governor had also announced that he will expand or build
new primary healthcare centers in the 178 political wards in the
state.
 “The moribund factories in the state including the Aluminum, Woven
sacks and Floor and Feed Mills which were abandoned for over a decade
have been revived for production.
He said all the factories and feed mills are operating at full
installed capacities to generate more revenues with increased job
opportunities for the unemployed.
While speaking on completed education projects, he said: “This
administration has also constructed seven model primary schools across
the state.
“Five of such schools have been completed and the remaining two have
reached 90% completion. Each of the schools is made up of a story
build with 30 class rooms.”
He said the completion of projects, are to improve the standard of
education with the training of over 3,000 teachers, while 10, 000 were
promoted
