Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has appointed Alhaji Umar
Ibn Kyari Al-Amin El-Kanemi as the new Shehu of Bama emirate.
Umar succeeds his father, Alhaji Kyari Ibn Umar El-Kanemi, who died
after a brief illness at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
(UMTH) on April 28, 2020.
While presenting appointment letter Monday at Shehu’s palace,
Secretary to State Government, Alhaji Usman Shuwa disclosed that the
state government; has confirmed Umar Ibn Kyari, as the new Shehu of
Bama Emirate Council (BAEC).
He said with the new appointment, Alhaji Umar becomes second Shehu of
Bama emirate, following the creation of Bama/Yedzeram emirate out of
old Dikwa.
Among the governor’s delegation present letter of appointment, include
Commissioner of Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Sugum Mai Mele
and Director Emirate Affairs.
The presentation of letter of appointment comes seven days after
demise of late Shehu.
His turbaning and presentation of Staff of Office will be announced on
a late date.
Meanwhile, the people of Bama are jubilations over the appointment of
the new Shehu.
