The Borno State high-powered committee on coronavirus (COVID-19); has
discharged 12 patients with the await results of 22 others.
This brings a total of 14 discharged patients by the University of
Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Maiduguri.
Confirming the discharge of patients Sunday in Maiduguri, Chairman of
Committee, Umar Kadafur, who doubles as Deputy Governor disclosed
that; “Out of 12 discharged patients, six were released by UMTH
isolation centre; while the remaining six were from Bulabulin Ngaranam
isolation centre.
According to him, twenty two patients are currently awaiting results
of their final tests.
He said the test results of suspected cases of COVID-19 are expected
to be released today or tomorrow (Tuesday).
While thanking the committee, Mr. Gideon of Shagari Low Cost housing
estate, said: “We appreciate the committee for taking good care of us,
while in COVID-19 isolation centres of Maiduguri.
Gideon was tested positive on April 30, 2020; after coming in contact
with his relative who died of coronavirus disease at UMTH.
According to Kadafur, more patients are expected to be discharged this week.
He therefore, urged members of the public to comply and adhere
strictly to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and World Health
Organisation (WHO) instructions and guidelines against coronavirus
disease.
