Borno COVID-19 Response Team Records Two More Deaths

The Borno State coronavirus (COVID-19) response team has recorded two
more deaths with the infection of 16 health workers receiving.
The health workers and 53 other patients; are receiving treatments at
University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) and Abba Kyari
Memorial Hospital isolation centres.
COVID-19 response team Secretary, Dr. Salihu Kwayabura, who doubles as
Health Commissioner, disclosed that the total death toll stood at 11.
While lamenting capacity of isolation centres, he said that a new
isolation centre will be expanded to accommodate 500-1,000 beds this
month.
He added that besides the new centre, another one is being built in
Biu to accommodate new COVID-19 patients from Borno south senatorial
district.
Speaking on community spread of virus, he said the team, was able to
contain further spread of disease to five council areas.
According to him, infected Local Government Areas, include Maiduguri
Metropolitan Council (MMC), Jere, Biu, Dikwa and Gwoza, a border town
with Cameroon.
