The Chairman of Yobe state council of traditional rulers, Dr. Muhammad
Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa; has distributed food items to 500
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) widows and vulnerable.
Idrissa, who is emir of Fika, disclosed this Wednesday at his Potiskum
palace, while announcing categories of vulnerable for distribution of
food items donated by Yobe state government through State’s Emergency
Management Agency (SEMA).
He said that the beneficiaries comprise IDPs, widows, the aged and
physically challenged persons in 15 districts of Fika Emirate Council
of the state.
According to him, other vulnerable groups include 27 IDPs from Kiriwa
area of Borno state; but residing in Potiskum town.
He added that 40 IDPs from Ngalda and five physically challenged
persons at Kampa filling station, including 30 deaf and dumb persons
are the genuine beneficiaries.
While speaking on widows, orphans and the aged, the monarch said:
“Twenty members of the Cripples Association, five from the Leopard
Association, 20 widows and orphans and 11 elderly people are to go
home with some food items today (Wednesday).”
The distributed items include 100 bags of rice, 20 jerry cans of
cooking oil, 30 cartons of tomato paste and canned fish.
He said each of the beneficiaries got 10kg of rice, a tin of tomato
paste, a litre of cooking oil and a canned fish.
Leader of physically challenged persons, Hassan Dada thanked the
monarch for the distributed COVID-19 palliatives.
He said the distribution of palliatives, was timely; because they were
distributed food items at the right time of lock down and Ramadan
month.
“It will go a long way in improving our living conditions,” he declared
