Mobile Courts To Prosecute Border Closure Violators In Yobe

The Yobe state committee on prevention and control coronavirus
(COVID-19) disease; is to prosecute violators of border closures.
The prosecutions are being carried out by mobile courts at border
entry points of Warsala, Dazigau and Katarko along Biu road.
COVID-19 prevention committee Chairman, Idi Gubana, who doubles as
Deputy Governor disclosed this Wednesday, while adopting resolutions
and recommendations to prevent and control the deadly virus that is
yet to be recorded.
According to him, the use of face masks at public places is mandatory
to all residents in Yobe state.
While reading out preventive measures, Abdullahi Bego, the Information
Commissioner also warned trailer drivers against carrying any
passenger other than three persons authorized on board.
“Mobile courts are now to prosecute offenders of border closure
directive, including drivers and passengers,” he said.
He said security personnel are also to conduct “stop and search”
operations in motor parks to ensure that passengers are accounted for.
The committee also; agreed to liaise with hotel owners to ensure that
all guests are accounted, warning that; “No guests from areas with
confirmed COVID 19 outbreaks stay without authorization.”
Bego therefore, called on border communities are to actively
participate in the enforcement of border closure.
“You should report any breaches to authorities in the community,” he
said, stressing that COVID-19 is highly contagious and transmittable
disease.
He therefore, urged the public to maintain social distancing, regular
hand washing, good respiratory etiquette; as well as staying at home.
“These are the best ways to prevent the transmission of the disease,” he said.
