MNJTF Kills 19 Terrorists In Lake Chad Region

Troops of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have killed 19 Boko
Haram terrorists, while conducting Operation Yanchin Tapki at Tumbums
in Lake Chad region.
The operations, which were supported by Air Task Force (ATF),
bombarded the Boko Haram enclaves of Tumbums Community on April 6,
2020.
MNJTF Spokesman Tuesday in a statement in Maiduguri disclosed: “The
combined forces from Sector 3 (Nigeria) and Sector 4 (Niger Republic),
supported by Air Task Force (Nigeria) and Niger Republic Air Force
conducted extensive bombardment of insurgents’ enclaves on Monday in
Tumbums community.
“Today’s (Monday) engagement was a coordinated air and ground
operation. After intensive fire fight, 19 Boko Haram terrorists were
neutralised, while others fled towards the Lake Chad.”
According to him, the combined force with the support of the Air Force
destroyed two Gun Trucks and captured two more suspects.
“Four motor cycles as well as arms and ammunition were also
recovered,” he said, noting that the task force did not sustain any
causality.
Troops of the MNJTF did not sustain any casualty.
He said the joint operations, was to further degrade and deplete Boko
Haram insurgents, while consolidating on previous synchronized
operations in region.
Meanwhile, Sector 1 in Cameroon; has also conducted clearance
operations in the southern parts of Lake Chad Basin.
The military operation was also to kill fleeing Boko Haram terrorists
who are now being confronted in the tree axis.
Last week, the Sector 2 Chadian troops conducted an amphibious
operation and secured the Litri/Madayi axis held for over three years
on shores of the lake.
Antigha also said that the mandate of MNJTF allows troops of the task
force to conduct operations within 25 kilometers of delineated area of
operation in Chad, Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon.
According to him; “The MNJTF, with support of national forces will
continue to pursue terrorists; until they are routed from Lake Chad
Basin,” noting that they are to face justice for their alleged decade
long atrocities.
He therefore; urged the people that every effort is being made to
restore security and normalcy in the region.
