DELTA STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE REAFFIRMS THE COMMANDS DETERMINATION TO ENFORCE ALL GOVERNMENT RESTRICTION ORDERS.

As part of measures to prevent/contain the spread of the dreaded Corona virus disease (COVID-19) in Delta State, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State Sen. (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has ordered with effect from 1st of April 2020 at 0600hrs.

1.           The temporary closure of public places, such as event centres, bars, night clubs/lounges, cinemas, markets, super-markets, malls, shops, restaurants/canteens.

2.           There shall be no street football or any other sporting activities on the streets or neighbourhood during this emergency period.

3.           Food stuff sellers are permitted to conduct their businesses within the precinct of their homes and will be monitored to ensure they adhere strictly to the social distancing rules.

4.           Markets for only the sales of food items and water will be organized in designated primary/secondary schools in each local government area of the state.

5.           The restriction of movement does not apply to the following categories of persons;

                               i.            Those involved in the transportation of essential supplies such as food, water, petroleum products, medical/emergency supplies, health care (pharmacies are to remain open), water supply, fire service, power supply, essential departments of Media houses, essential departments of Telecommunications companies, Livestock farmers (Poultry, Piggery and Fishery), farmers are to be allowed into their farms.

                             ii.            Banks are to remain open but only for skeletal services.

                             iii.         All persons that fall under the categories of exemptions must carry valid identification tags for easy identification and smooth passage as there will be increased security presence during this period.

Sequel to the above, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, CP Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, mni while entreating citizens of the State to remain law-abiding and voluntarily comply with the orders, has re-affirmed the command’s determination to strictly enforce the orders (including the one from the presidency) stating that anyone found wanting will face the full wrath of the law.

Consequently, the Commissioner of Police has directed all Area Commanders, DPOs and Heads of Tactical/Operational Departments of the Command to ensure strict enforcement of the orders. He further charged all Officers to be professional in the discharge of their duties as any contrary act or conduct will attract severe disciplinary measures/sanctions and to observe the stipulated personal measures on COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the good citizens of the state have been advised to be vigilant, focused and adhere to stipulated preventive measures against COVID-19 and to report anyone found violating the law to the nearest Police Station or by calling the Command’s Control Room Number on 08036684974.
