Borno legislators pledge 50% of two months salary to fight COVID-19

T he 28-member Borno State House of Assembly has pledged 50% of two
months’ salaries to fight coronavirus yet to outbreak in the state.
Announcing the pledge Friday in Maiduguri, the Speaker of the House,
Abdulkarim Lawan told response team leader of COVID-19 and Deputy
Governor, Umar Kadafur that the salary donations was to support the
state government’s efforts prevent and control spread of virus.
He also commended the state government for adopting preventive
measures, including the setup of COVID-19 response team.
“I applaud your team, for the sensitization campaigns, including
closures of six entry points into Maiduguri metropolis,” said the
Speaker.
Responding, Kadafur expressed appreciation for the sacrifice made by
legislators to prevent the deadly virus into Borno.
