The Borno state Chairman of COVID-19 response team, Alhaji Umar
Kadafur; has directed the Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEPA) to
fumigate all banks’ premises in Maiduguri metropolis.
The premises to be fumigated include banking halls and their Automated
Teller Machines (ATM) galleries to prevent deadly virus during banking
hours.
Kadafur in a statement Friday in Maiduguri said that the directives,
is part of ongoing precautionary measures against COVID-19 in the
state.
“This preventative fumigation exercise, is to carried out twice a week
by the environmental agency,” he said.
He therefore; urged the banks the agency the needed support and
cooperation carry out the fumigation exercises.
He also directed all banks to also provide hand washing stations and
points at banking premises, including ATM galleries.
While commending public for abiding with directives issued by response
team, he however; regretted any inconvenience the fumigation exercise
caused.
He said that the state government; is doing everything humanly
possible to improve the COVID-19 situation lock down.
“We’re doing everything possible to ameliorate the situation,” he said.
