Army Braces Up For Secret Fight Against Boko Haram Terrorists-Buratai

Date:

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said that troops
of Operation Lafiya Dole have braced up for a secret fight against
Boko Haram terrorists.
According to him, the next line of military action against insurgents
in Northeast will not be disclosed; because of peculiar reasons to end
war.
Buratai made this known Saturday; at a sendoff dinner in honour of
outgoing Theatre Commander, Maj-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi at Maimalari
Cantonment, Maiduguri.
“The troops should brace up for a very busy time in the fight against
Boko haram terrorists,” he said, adding that Nigerian journalists are
to be embedded into the military operations.
He also insisted that guidelines will be provided on the issues
relating to national security, while protecting people’s lives and
property.
Even though the Army has suffered some setbacks, Buratai believes that
troops are more determined with high morale to defeat Boko Haram
terrorists.
“We will not disclose our plans but I’m sure that as you settle down,
you will have a very busy time.
And all the new commanders should prepare for a very busy period,”
Buratai told the new Theatre Commander, Maj. Gen. Farouk Yahaya at the
dinner.
He was also optimistic that his troops will in no distant future bring
the Boko Haram Insurgency under control.
Top Military Officers that attended the dinner, include at the former
Theatre Commander, Maj-Gen. Adeniyi
According to Buratai; “The insecurity cannot be forever. But we have
to work collectively to ensure that we bring the situation under
control.  An effective control; so that is our target, this is what we
hope to achieve in the nearest future.”
He appealed to willing Nigerian journalists, particularly those who
are resident in Borno State and had reported the decade- long war from
inception to join his troops in front lines of Sambisa Forest and Lake
Chad region.
He said the engagement of journalists, was to adequately inform
Nigerians on the ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
“And for our friends – Journalists, who have seen it all right from
the beginning, we are inviting you join us to go to the field and see
what our troops are doing,” he said, noting that their reports must
reflect and conform to national security and interest.
