Prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Rivers State have commended Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for providing the right leadership that led to the successful conduct of Ward, Local Government and State Congresses in the state.
They spoke in separate interviews during the Rivers State PDP State Congress at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
Member of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Ken Chikere said that Governor Wike has continued to sustain the PDP in Rivers State through his quality leadership.
“I thank God for the Governor he gave to us. The Governor is purposeful and committed to the development of the state and the growth of the party. I am satisfied with the congresses.
“It has been peaceful from the beginning up to this level. My love for what has happened so far is the inclusiveness and the unity of members,” he said.
Elder Statesman, Chief Sergeant Awuse said that Governor Wike has been proactive in his leadership of the party. He said the proactive approach of Governor Wike is responsible for the successful congresses in the state.
Another Elder Statesman, Prince Emma Anyanwu described the ward, local government and state congresses of Rivers PDP as peaceful and an indication of the pro-people leadership of Governor Wike.
He said that Governor Wike has displayed capacity, strength and led the state PDP in the right direction.
Member of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, Prince Ohochukwu said that the entire membership of Rivers PDP is happy because of the peaceful and successful congresses.
The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Mr Solomon Eke said that the PDP is successful because of the leadership of Governor Wike.
He said: “The ward, local government and state Congress of PDP succeeded because the leader of the party, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike laid the right foundation.
“Governor Wike guided us properly to ensure that we head to the right direction. If you leave it to some people, they will hijack all the positions for themselves. “
Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Samuel Nwanosike said that Rivers PDP is privileged to be under the leadership of Governor Wike who understands the dynamics of leading a family.
“Governor Wike has shown capacity from the first Congress to the State Congress. We have held series of meetings and consensus reached. In the areas, where we could not reach consensus, voting held. All interest groups in the PDP have been carried along. From the National Chairman to the least member of the party.”
The Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Erasmus Victor commended the Rivers State Governor for uniting the PDP family through quality leadership and creating the platform for future electoral victories.
Former Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Chief Felix Nwaeke lauded Governor Wike for ensuring that the PDP is still one indivisible family after the congresses.
He said: “The Governor of Rivers State has done a lot in trying to unite different stakeholders of the State PDP. Several Stakeholder meetings were held to bring groups together. Every Stakeholder from the LGA to the state has made input.”
Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Evangelist Hope Ikiriko said that from the ward to the state level, PDP members aligned to the leadership of the State Governor because it is targeted at the good of the people.
Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Mr Ben Eke said that Governor Wike has developed PDP into a party that is transparent and democratic. He said the leadership of Governor Wike has made Rivers PDP a strong party.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike while addressing the congress said that PDP remains a force in Rivers State because his administration delivers on its development agenda.
He said : “We must continue to do what will sustain the hope our people have in government. If INEC conducts credible elections at any time, PDP candidates will win all the positions.”
Governor Wike called on the party to continue to support the State Government for the benefit of Rivers people.
