ISWAP terrorists kill five people in Borno

Date:

Suspected terrorists of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)
attacked drivers and passengers on Saturday, killing five near Auno
village in Borno state.
Auno, 20 kilometres west of Maiduguri, the state capital, was attacked
last month with loss of many lives and property.
Confirming the incident Sunday in Maiduguri, Civilian JTF leader,
Babakura Kolo told The Guardian that motorists and travelers were
stopped by 5.30pm, before slitting some of their throats.
He disclosed that the insurgents employed machetes to slit throats,
instead of rifles to prevent being alerted of attacks along the
Maiduguri/Damaturu road.
According to him; “More of commuters and our members could be feared
dead in the bush. We’re still searching for more passengers and
drivers that fled the scene of attack.
“We have so far recovered five dead bodies and 14 people with severe
injuries all from machete cuts.”
He said the death toll might rise since more bodies could still be in the bush.
“The terrorists killed several people in a machete-hacking spree,
following them into the bush where bodies are still scattered,” he
said.
Meanwhile, a team of police, militiamen and local hunters combed
through the area, evacuating the dead and the injured on Sunday
While lamenting on rescue team, Ibrahim Liman of Civilian JTF said:
“Our rescue operation was hampered by the team’s refusal to go deeper
into the bush for fear of being attacked by terrorists.
“We can’t go deep inside the bush which is littered with more bodies
because the insurgents are very much around.
“We don’t have the kind of weapons they have to give them a good fight.”
