The Borno State Government has confirmed five suspected cases of
coronavirus been tested negative at Public Health and Emergency
Operation Centre, Maiduguri.
This was disclosed Sunday by Health Commissioner, Dr. Salisu
Kwayabura, while briefing journalists on the status of five patients
in Maiduguri metropolis.
He said the five persons willingly submitted themselves to be tested
following their history of travelling to countries with highest
coronavirus cases.
His words: “The results from the specimen taken from the five
suspected cases for test at the National Center for Disease Control
(NCDC) Abuja came back negative.
“The five persons were quarantined and closely monitored by state task
force on the prevention against COVID-19.
“The Health and the Emergency Operation Centre are functioning at
optimal level and fully ready to deal with any emergency in the
state”, he said.
While speaking on negative tests of virus, the Deputy Governor, Usman
Kadafur, urged the people to ensure highest level of personal hygiene,
including the regular washing of hands and use of sanitizers in public
places.
Kadafur, Chairman Rapid Response Committee for Prevention of COVID-19,
urged the people to cooperate with stat government on adopted policies
and measures to prevent the spread of deadly virus.
He said that the committee had deployed health personnel across the
state to enforce compliance on government rules against COVID-19.
He warned traders and petroleum marketers not to cash in COVID-19 lock
down to exploit innocent residents across the state.
“The state government will not condone hoarding of fuel by fuel
marketers to cause artificial scarcity and hardship in the state,” he
warned.
