Buni Orders Closure Of Borders From Tuesday Midnight

Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has ordered the closure of state
borders from Tuesday midnight of March 31, 2020.
The closures, according to him, were to guard against importation of
the deadly Coronavirus into the state.
The affected state and international borders, include Borno, Bauchi,
Jigawa and Niger Republic in north.
Director General Press and Media Affairs to Governor, Mohammed Mamman,
in a statement Sunday in Damaturu, said: “This became necessary
following the spike in spread of the virus in the country.”
He however; expressed gratitude to God for sparing the state and
citizens; since the outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic with zero
status of state.
Buni said that in spite of state’s zero status, government had taken
adequate measures by establishing isolation centers with equipment and
constituting a committee on Corona Virus under the chairmanship of
Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana.
He said the 21-member Rapid Response Team (RRT); was established to
closely monitor any suspicious case; adding that; “as we remain
grateful that we have no single case up to closures of borders.
“The people should adhere strictly to medical advises, avoid over
crowded gatherings along with regular washing of hands with soap; and
use of hand sanitizers,” he declared.
The Governor appealed to the people to cooperate with government and
all the relevant agencies for a collective approach in fighting
pandemic.
He warned traders against hoarding essential commodities for more
profits, as this will create more hardships on residents.
He urged the people not to panic, but ‘calm and steadfast in prayers’
to seek divine intervention to save their lives and humanity in
nation.
