Buni Completes N493m Yobe Road Project For Commissioning

Date:

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, has said that the commissioning
of Babangida township roads and drainage; will fast track the
socioeconomic growth rates at grassroots.
The N493 million road project; was completed by Elegance Construction
Nigeria Ltd in five months.
Flagging off the project Wednesday at Babangida, the council
headquarters, Buni said: “Completion of roads; are signifies of
mobility and economic advancement,” adding that; across the globe,
they are considered as part of the infrastructure necessary to
facilitate socioeconomic growth and development.
He said the state government considers the construction of roads and
concrete drains within and in major towns; as an important part of
post-insurgency recovery and reconstruction efforts.
“This is a significant step in making life more meaningful for our
people,” he declared, disclosing that the inaugurated project; covers
1.5 kilometres with three kilometres of concrete drainage facilities
to address perennial flooding and erosion.
While speaking on project funding, he said: “This project was jointly
funded by State Government and Tarmuwa Local Government Council at the
ratio of 30 and 70 per cent.”
He said that the state government is also committed to the improvement
of people’s living conditions across the state.
“But we need you as partners in the efforts,” he noted.
He said the roads and drains are built for the people to commute, from
one part of town to another without any hitch or hindrances.
According to Buni, the lifespan and long-term usefulness of project,
depends on how best people put roads and drainage facilities into use.
On how to check flooding, he said: “If you convert the concrete drains
into refuse dumb and block the roads and do not allow for free flow of
traffic, then you would create the conditions for flooding.
“The rainwater may flood the entire township and possibly cause
destruction to lives and property during the rainy season.”
He therefore, urged the people to consider the road project and other
government completed ones and services as their own.
“You should guard and use them jealously and responsibly in extending
their life-spans in the 17 Councils.” he said, noting that these are
the means to a ‘better and more prosperous’ state in the nation.
