Umara laments incessant Boko Haram attacks on Borno communities

Jutha Gupah, Maiduguri December 19, 2019. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state; has lamented the incessant recent Boko Haram attacks on communities in Askira/Uba council area. The insurgents, this week attacked Chul community, after torching several houses and shops in six towns and villages of Rumirgo, Lassa, Mussa, Kufa and Gwandam this month. Spokesman of Governor, Isa Gusau Thursday in Maiduguri, disclosed that; “Zulum had raised concerns that whereas the insurgents appeared confined to the shores of the Lake Chad in northern Borno, they were able to reach other parts of the state in Sambisa Forest.” According to Gusau; the Governor is worried about the recent Boko Haram attacks by Boko Haram on communities located on fringes of forest.

His words: “He shares the pains with victims of attacks and assured them of his administration’s continued efforts to address the security problems. “Zulum intends to visit Askira and Uba communities when he goes to Southern part of the state in the coming days.” The Governor assured the affected people of support, particularly government’s commitment to sustain support for the military and other security agencies end the war. “Zulum will continue to mobilize and aggressively equip volunteers under the Civilian JTF, hunters and vigilantes in all communities,” he assured.

He said the governor has already directed local government authorities to regularly work with all security stakeholders in their respective council areas. The collaboration, according to him, was to consistency review the security challenges and deployment of necessary but lawful measures to protect people’s lives and property.
