How UN Trust Territory Emerges UNO State Of Cameroon

Njadvara Musa, Maiduguri December 3, 2019. The United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Antonio Guterres; has said former Trust Territory of Cameroon under Britain and Northern Ireland administration; had been given full independence before it works out treaty relations with Cameroon, Nigeria and other countries. Guterres disclosed this in October 31, 2019 letter to Prof. Martin Chia Ateh, the UN workshops coordinator and chairman, steering committee for United Nations Organisation (UNO) state of Cameroon. According to him, the new state comprises 86,216 square kilometres of landmass from Bakassi Peninsular in Cross River state; to Lake Chad region in Borno state.

He said it was in conformity with “purpose and principles of Charter of the UN and Stature of International Court of Justice (ICJ). “The UN Secretaries General has already worked out the actualization of UNO state of Cameroon,” declared Guterres in the letter on creation of new state in Nigeria and Cameroun. Augustine Sah, member of steering committee and student of Njinikom Open University said: “The sensitization workshop in Michika, Adamawa state, was to fully raise awareness of citizens both from northern and southern Camroons. “The sensitization workshops here in Michika, Mubi, Ganye, Serti, Gwoza and Gembu, were in accordance with the rectification and regularization of UNO State of Cameroon by UN.” He said that it commenced with the awareness of former UN Secretaries General, Annan and Ban Ki-Moon with diplomatic consultations of Presidents of Cameroon and Nigeria. He said that Ki-moon; on June 10, 2010 also gave two flags to Biya to be hoisted in former Trust Territory of Cameroon under British administration now called: “UNO State of Cameroon” and the flag of independence of Cameroon. He said the two flags, were raised in the now territory of the Republic of Cameroon. “The certified true copy of the national identity card of the UNO State of Cameroon for Prof. Ateh, authorizes him to issue same IDs to citizens of new state,” said Guterres. According to Sah, the UN flag was raised in Bamenda, UNO State of Cameroon in the premises of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on May 21, 2019. In Adamawa state, eight councils of Michika, Ganye, Jada, Maiha, Madagali, Mubi North and South and Toungo, including parts of Fufore, Mayo Belwa and Song, are be joined to the country. According to the map, five Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Borno state; are to join northeast part of UNO state of Cameroon. The councils include Bama, Dikwa, Gwoza, Konduga and Kala/Balge. Seven Local Government Areas are wholly are partially demarcated to join the new state of Cameroon. The fully affected ones comprise Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna councils, while Ardo Kola, Bali, Takum and Yorro, are partially demarcated to form state of Cameroon He said the population of Northern Cameroon Trust Territory, is over 4.5 million, according to 2006 census.
