The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi, has warned troops against ‘showing any mercy’ to fleeing Boko Haram remnants to end war for peace. The decade long terrorism; has claimed many lives and property in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states. Adeniyi gave the warnings on Wednesday, when he visited Sector 2, Headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole in Damaturu, the state capital.
“Don’t show any kind of mercy to Boko Haram insurgents and the people supporting their activities,” he said. He ordered the various commanding officers to lead troops deal with the fleeing Boko Haram terrorists. His words: “The insurgents are fleeing from Lake Chad region and the Sambisa Forest hideouts.”
“It is the right time to end all the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-east and the nation.” The visit to troops in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, was to boost fighting morals to soldiers. He said it part of their constitutional duty to eliminate anything that would bring setbacks to Nigerians and the country. General Adeniyi pledged to support the officers with all the necessary supports when the need arises. He was accompanied by GOC, 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brig-Gen. Abdul Ibrahim, among other senior officers. End.
