BURATAI ALERTS TROOPS ON EMERGING SECURITY THREATS

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; has alerted troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on the emerging security threats to nation. Buratai raised the alarm on Tuesday, while celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with troops of 22 Brigade, Dikwa in Borno state. He said the troops should not rest on their oars, because the existing and emerging security threats are potent and must nipped in the bud. “We must continue to be ahead of these security challenges to ensure peace in the Northeast region,” he said. Buratai, who was represented by Chief of Logistic Army, Maj-Gen. Eneobong Udoh also said: “We redouble our efforts to completely eliminate all acts of insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, secession and other forms of security threats in nation. According to him, the troops are to provide the enablement for effective and successful counter-insurgency and terrorism operations. He assured the commitments of the army to the welfare of all officers and soldiers. He said the re-valuation of welfare packages, will continue to meet best standards and practices. He encouraged troops to pray for the repose of the souls their gallant departed colleagues. He said the fallen heroes have paid the supreme sacrifice in the cause to protect nation and its citizens. “Our hearts will always be with their families, as we pray the merciful God to grant them eternal rest,” he said. The General Officer Commanding, 7 Division, Maj-Gen. Abdulmalik Biu has said that Buratai has motivated the soldiers to fight and defeat Boko Haram insurgents that claimed many lives and property in Borno state. “We must win the war to ensure an enduring peace in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states,” he said.
