TROOPS KILL DOZENS OF TERRORISTS, RECOVER ARMS IN BORNO

Troops of 121, 192 Battalions of Operation Lafiya Dole and 177 Task Force Battalion; have killed dozens of terrorists on Friday, while clearing 13 Borno villages and a town in Operation HARD STRIKE. The troops also destroyed makeshift camps with the recovery of arms and ammunition at Furfur village, after an exchange of gun fire with fleeing terrorists. Army Spokesman, Col. Sagir Musa; in a statement Sunday in Maiduguri said there were no casualties on part of troops and Civilian JTF. He said at Ranwa II , contact was made with terrorists, where three of them were killed, while some fled with gunshot wounds. He said that based on credible intelligence, troops of 212 Task Battalion at forward operation base, ambushed terrorists. According to him, the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Gajigana town and troops’ location. He said unconfirmed number of terrorists was exterminated. He said two soldiers were however; wounded during the weekend encounter with Boko Haram insurgents. The 177 Task Force, according to Musa: “Cleared six villages of Mboa, Mboa Kura, Yarchida, Bombula, Tshata and Bamzir with recovery of arms and ammunition. He said the General Officer Commanding, 7 Division, Maj-Gen. Abdulmalik Biu, while on an assessment visit to Gajiram; enjoined troops to remain “decisive and intensify efforts” in eliminating remnants of terrorists from hideouts. Musa thanked the people for providing information to the military for the recent successes recorded in counter-insurgency and terrorism operations in Borno.
