Borno completes Africa’s largest solar panel factory

The Borno state government has established Africa’s largest Solar Panel Factory (SOPF) overcome challenges of power outages in Maiduguri metropolis. The fully automated plant sited at Njimtilo village; will produce 40 megawatts worth of panels per annum to overcome challenges of power outages in the state. Honourary Special Adviser on Agriculture, Ibrahim Ali disclosed this Thursday in Maiduguri, while test running the plant. He said that each solar pane has the capacity for 300 watts. He further disclosed that with the completion of factory, most of the dormant cottage industries are to be reactivating to create jobs. He added that the 28 completed mega schools, are also to switch to solar panels for electricity.
