His Excellency, The Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, Governor of Bayelsa State has declared Thursday 14th February 2018 as A PUBLIC HOLIDAY for all civil servants working in both federal and state establishment in Bayelsa State, including the financial institutions. Those exempted from the public holiday are security agencies, health workers, fire service and all those on essential duties.
Thé public holiday will afford our people the opportunity to travel home to their various communities to enable them vote in Saturday’s election. Given the peculiar nature of our environment and the difficulty in accessing most of our communities especially those located in far flung riverine terrains, the public holiday will enable them set out early to connect their communities.
With the public holiday there should not be any excuse for anyone to miss out on the opportunity to be part of the elections.
