The Borno State Government has commenced the payments of N200 million backlogs of scholarships to 14,000 students studying in institutions of higher learning in the country. The State Ministry of Higher Education; has set two panels to verify the students, before the scholarship payments, slated for January 14, 2019. Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Abubakar Hassan on Friday announced the payments of scholarships to students at a news conference in Maiduguri. He said the N200 million backlogs of scholarships, was released by Governor Kashim Shettima at the recent State Executive Council (SEC) for payments in 20 institutions of higher learning. He encourages parents to partner with State Government in the development of the education sector for future generations. He said that with the completion of 23 mega schools across the state, more students will be admitted into institutions of higher learning.
