PRIEST IN POLICE NET OVER THE DEATH OF A WOMAN IN HIS SHRINE

Men of Ogun State Police Command has on Sunday 19th of August arrested one Lekan Olukolu an Ayelala priest over the death of a 25 year old woman one Idowu Ogunkoya in his shrine.

The arrest of the priest was as a result of complaint lodged by one Lucky Oghenetega who reported at Ago-Iwoye divisional headquarters that the deceased who was his fiancé was taken to the shrine of Ayelala priest by her parents for spiritual cleansing because they suspected her to posses witch craft spirit.

He stated further that when the deceased got to the shrine, the priest shaved her head and gave her a liquid substance to drink in order to deliver her from the alleged witch craft. The deceased slumped and died immediately after taken the liquid substance.

On the strength of the report, the DPO Ago-Iwoye division Csp Adeola Adedoyin led detectives to the shrine situated at Ojuolota area of Ijesha road in Ago-Iwoye where the priest was promptly arrested alongside with the father of the deceased one Temitayo Ogunkoya

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Cp Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the State Criminal investigation, and intelligence department for proper investigation, the Cp also warned members of the public to desist from primitive and barbaric ways of dealing with matters especially issues that has to do with human life as the command will not tolerate such archaic life style, capable of terminating innocent people’s life unnecessarily.
