Chelsea may be making a mistake breaking the world record for a goalkeeper in order to land Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Athletic Bilbao player’s release clause is so high after the star signed a new deal with the Basque club, following interest from Real Madrid – but one former Chelsea stopper is worried.
Mark Schwarzer said that while there is no doubt Kepa is talented, he is very young and could take some time to settle in to the Premier League.
Chelsea have little choice when it comes to Courtois, who has essentially forced a move away from the club, and has even gone AWOL in recent days, refusing to even return to training.
That may well earn him a huge fine, but the player doesn’t seem overly bothered, and has made his thoughts very clear – via his agent of course, who noted the goalkeeper needed to be allowed to leave on ‘human’ grounds, in order to be closer to his kids.
