Troops of 242, 151 Battalions and 21 Brigade of Nigerian Army deployed to Operation Lafiya Dole in the Northeast; have killed six terrorists in a military clearance patrols of Damboa and Bama councils of Borno state. They also recovered six AK-47 rifles and arms; with the rescue of 33 hostages held in captivity by Boko Haram insurgents in cleared hideouts. Director of Army Public relations, Brig-Gen. Texas Chukwu disclosed this in a statement released on Thursday to journalists in Maiduguri. He said the recovery of arms and ammunition were successfully made in a coordinated exchange of gun fire, before rescuing the hostages at Bulabulin and Falamari villages. According to Chukwu in that statement; “Troops of 151 Battalion while on patrol along Myanti-Darel Jamel road in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state encountered some Boko Haram terrorists. One of the insurgent was neutralized during the encounter. He continued: “Troops of 21 Brigade while on clearance operation at Yerimari Gana, and Darel Salam villages in the outskirts of Bama Local Government Area of Borno state, neutralized one Boko Haram terrorists. “Items also recovered include, one AK 47 rifle, one Magazine, 26 rounds of 7.62 mm (special) ammunition, 3 improvised rounds of ammunition, 3 pairs of military uniform, one solar panel. Thirty three persons comprising eight men, 12 women and 13 children were rescued by the troops during the operation.” He said the rescued victims have been profiled and handed over to the appropriate authority.
