Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the APC Federal Government does not appreciate the enormity of the security crisis facing the nation, hence their politicization of security.
Speaking during a special appearance on African Independent Television, AIT, breakfast programme, Kaakaki, on Wednesday, Governor Wike said the failure to tackle security challenges across the country has led to disillusionment amongst the populace.
He said: “We have never gotten to this level where there is this consciousness of division and fear in the country. People are now afraid of extermination.
“This country is in great danger. Let nobody deceive you. The way the nation is drifting does not portray that we are headed towards a prosperous destination “.
He said that the politicization of the security architecture by the present administration has made it impossible for security agencies to tackle criminality.
“The Federal Government should sit down with every group to find a lasting solution to the security challenge “, he said.
On the fight against corruption by the APC Federal Government, Governor Wike said that the Federal Government only works to emasculate the opposition, noting that the fight is not genuine.
“So much Rivers funds were committed to funding APC National Campaign, but nobody is asking questions . They are not asking questions because the funds were used to the advantage of the APC”, he said.
He stated that Rivers people will ensure that their votes count in 2019, saying that all plans to rig the elections will fail.
“We will make sure that our votes are counted and that they reflect the will of the people “, he said.
Governor Wike said that unlike Former President Goodluck Jonathan who accepted defeat because of his patriotic disposition, the body language of the APC indicate that they will not concede defeat.
He reiterated that there is nothing personal in the position of the Rivers State Government to expose the INEC Report Indicting SARs Commander, Akin Fakorede for electoral malpractice.
He said that all actions have been taken to alert members of the public on the negative actions against the electoral process and the resolve of Rivers people to protect democracy.
