The Borno State Health Commissioner, Dr. Haruna Mshelia has said that government is to pay doctors’ four years’ salary arrears after completing workers’ biometric data verification this year.
Mshelia responded on Tuesday in Maiduguri to the Association of Borno Doctors (ABOD) 21-day ultimatum to pay four years arrears of Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).
His words: “We’re not neglecting our hard working and resilientdoctors. The state government is ready to pay their outstanding allowances.
“This could have been done in 2017, but for the ongoing workers biometric verification exercise, the Governor kept it on hold, until the biometric exercise was completed.
“The resident doctors have never been denied their salaries or allowances; due to the significance of their profession in the health sector.”
He said Governor Shettima had held series of meetings with the executive members of the association, before issuing the ultimatum to government.
