BORNO COMPLETES 11,180 HOMES, SCHOOLS, BOREHOLES FOR RETURN OF BAMA IDPS

The Borno State Government has yesterday said that 11,180 privatebhomes, schools and boreholes have been completed by Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (MRRR) for return of Bama displaced persons this year.
Briefing the UN Deputy Secretary General, Hajiya Amina Mohammed on Friday at Bama to asses Borno’s resettlement projects, the Commissioner of MRRR, Prof. Babagana Umara said that 11,000 private homes of displaced residents have been completed for their return.
He said out of the destroyed towns and communities in the state, Bama was the most hit, with 90 per cent of its houses and public buildings destroyed by Boko Haram between 2013 and 2015.
His words: “Despite challenges of funding our rehabilitation and resettlement projects, the state ministry of RRR has rebuilt 170 classrooms in 11 different destroyed schools for pupils and students commence learning from their teachers.
According to him, township electrification and water supply projects have also been completed, including the sinking of 10 boreholes in the insurgency affected wards of Bama.
Amina was in Bama to assess gaps in humanitarian needs of IDPs, and reconstruction efforts recorded by state government; so she could report back to the UN in order to identify areas of intervention.
