General Abayomi Olonisakin, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has
commenced “military operational visit” to troops fighting Boko Haram
insurgency and terrorism the North-East that claimed many lives and
property.
Olonisakin’s first port of call on Wednesday was the Military Command
and Control Centre (MCCC), and Theatre Command, Operation LAFIYA DOLE
along with representatives of Inspector General of Police, Chief of
Army Staff and other service chiefs from Navy and Airforce.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Theatre Commander, Maj-Gen Ibrahim
Attahiru, while welcoming Olonisakin to the Theatre Command for
routine military visit.
“Today’s visit of Chief of Defense Staff was part of a routine
exercise to the theatre military operations in the Northeast,” said
Attahiru.
He said that Olonisakin will thoroughly briefed troops’ military
operations and counter-terrorism campaigns against Boko Haram
insurgents in Borno state and Northeast.
Attahiru continued: “We are to provide first-hand information on the
operational activities in the theatre of war.
“The visit will also avail the chief of defense staff with the
opportunity to understand counter-terrorism issues, challenges and how
to address them.”
Olonisakin was accompanied by representatives of other service chiefs,
senior military and police officers during the routine operational
visit.
