FALCONETS DRAW MOROCCO IN SALE

The Nigerian under-20 female side, the Falconets, led by FC Robo Queen’s Rasheedat Ajibade played out a 1-1 draw in Morocco on Sunday November 5 2017 at the Stade Boubker Ammar in Sale. The girls jetted out of Nigeria on Thursday, ahead of the match, the team were encouraged and motivated by Senator Olusola Adeyeye who donated the sum of $1000 to the team.

The women, who previously knocked out Tanzania from the U-20 Women’s World Cup first qualifying round, need to dispatch Morocco to keep hope alive if they want to make it to the world cup next year. They need an outright victory when they play the next leg of at home in Benin, Edo state next weekend.

It took the girls few minutes to the end of the first half of the match to cancel out the Moroccans lead. The Falconets need to defeat Morocco at home to ensure they face the winner of the fixture between South Africa and Burundi (though Burundi have an edge as they won the first leg by 2-0) in the third and final round of the qualifiers scheduled for January 2018.

Nigeria have been at the U20 World cup twice and the Christopher Danjuma led side would be hoping to make a third appearance.
