“TROOPS’ DISCIPLINE AND COMMITMENTS TO END B’HARAM INSURGENCY, TERRORISM”-THEATRE COMMANDER

The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru has said that troops’ exhibition of discipline and commitments in the war theatre; will end Boko Haram insurgency in the
North-East sub-region of the country.
Attahiru disclosed this on Wednesday, while addressing troops of 8 Task Force Division at the Kinasara Cantonment parade ground in Borno state.
He said that to end insurgency and terrorism, the troops should exhibit discipline at all times in the ongoing military operations. He reiterated the determination of the Chief of Army Staff to bring an end to Boko Haram insurgency that has claimed many lives and property.
He assured the troops that their welfare and rotation; are accorded topmost priorities by the army headquarters.
Responding, the Acting General Officer Commanding of the Division, Brig-Gen Stevenson Olabanji said that discipline is the bedrock of every army and essential to fast track defeat of Boko Haram insurgency
and terrorism. He warned the troops to shun all forms of vices and focus on  exterminating the terrorists from every inch of Nigerian soil in the Northeast.
“On no account will any officer or soldier in the theatre be found indulging in fishing activity or any other nefarious activities, as they constitute a negation of the mandate and goals of Operation Lafiya Dole,” said Olabanji.
He added: “The leadership and initiative you have exhibited by going the extra mile to ensuring the serviceability of all platforms and conditioning your troops for the task ahead are worthy of emulation.”
He assured the GOC that the Theatre Command will provide the Division with the required support to sustain the momentum He said that erring personnel will be appropriately sanctioned. He
also urged the commanders in the Division to build the capacity of troops, through regular in-theatre training. Attahiru also visited the 8 Task Force Division; hospital, where he empathized with soldiers receiving treatment for various sustained injuries.
