D’TIGERS TAKE ON CAMEROON IN 2017 AFROBASKET QUARTER FINALS

Nigeria’s Afrobasket journey would continue today as their quarterfinal would kick off today Thursday against now very familiar sport foe, Cameroon.  The D’Tigers of Nigeria are the defending champions of the competition, and are one of the considered favourites to conquer Africa. No doubt, they would be hoping to win the continental title back to back. Fans would be hoping players like, Ike Diogu, Ikechukwu Nwamu and Ikenna Iroegbu do not let the team down.

The D’Tigers won their first match against Ivory Coast 78-77, in their second match defeated Mali by 90-67 but lost their last group fixture to DR Congo 83-77. While Cameroon, opened their Group C campaign with a defeat against hosts Tunisia but bounced-back with two wins over Guinea and Rwanda.

Nigeria are the highest ranked team on the continental unlike their opponents Cameroon who are ranked 7th in Africa. The D’Tigers as the defending champion would be looking to make sure that they replicate the success of the last edition of the competition and are looking poised to progress ahead of the Lions of Cameroon later today as they slug it out on the court.

The other quarterfinal fixtures for today are:

Tunisia v DR Congo

Senegal v Angola

Morocco v Egypt.
