Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked Amarwa village in Konduga
council area of Borno state, and killed four villagers with the
wounding of over a dozen others on Saturday at about 10pm.

Amarwa village is farming and herding community, and located 15
kilometres east of Maiduguri, the state capital.
The insurgents, according to Modu Bukar, a member of Civilian JTF,
burst into the village through the northern flank of Sambisa Forest.

He said the insurgents took the 10pm-6am curfew to trap and attack the
villagers in the houses and huts, before setting the village ablaze.
Bukar said: “The villagers were about to go to sleep, when they heard
chanting of ‘God is the great’ in Arabic by some insurgents, armed
with petrol bombs and AK-47 rifles and started firing at fleeing
villagers.

farmlands and bushes for safety, before soldiers arrived to the scene
after midnight.”

He said the insurgents fled into the forest on motorcycles and a
pickup van mounted with anti-aircraft gun.
Amb. Ahmed Shehu of the Civil Liberty Organisation (CLO) also
confirmed the incident to The Guardian in a text message sent
yesterday on the Amarwa village attack.

village yesterday at about 10pm to 11.30pm as reported by the village
head,” he said.
Shehu added: “Four people have been confirmed killed in the village
attack, while over a dozen others were injured and taken to hospital
