There is a need for the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Lagos to focus more on the State government’s social media platforms in order to create more awareness about the government’s projects and achievements.
This call was made by the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Hon. Setonji David, during the mid-year budget appraisal held recently at the Assembly Complex.
Addressing the new Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olumide Shogunle, who stood in for the Commissioner, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, said the Ministry is not resting on its oars in ensuring that all government staff link up with and constantly engage the official social media platforms.
While responding, Mr. Shogunle said the Ministry is up to the task and all hands are on deck to make a positive impact through the official social media platforms.
He said they were taking off with the over 200 Public Affairs officers in the Ministry.
In a related development, the House Committee on Information has met with departments and agencies under its purview as the assessment of their mid-year budget performance documents continued.
Those whose documents were checked include Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Traffic Radio and Lagos Television, LTV, respectively.
The trio was advised on ways to generate more revenues for the State.
Hon. Mojisolaoluwa Alli-Macaulay, advised and encouraged the General Manager of LTV, Mrs.Siju Alabi, to improve on programme contents for the television and re-engineer the marketing unit to be more aggressive with their strategies.
In the same vein, the Committee met with the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, LNSC, and insisted that the outfit engage more hands for better performance of security of lives and property in the State.
Hon. Olawale Age Sulaiman, a member of the Committee and the Chairman on Procurement, warned the Ministry and its agencies on the danger of not involving procurement officers in their day-to-day activities.
He noted the benefits of following the procurement rules.
