Mifah is near Chibok, where 276 school girls were abducted by the insurgents on April 14, 2014. The attacked community; is 140 kilometers south of Maiduguri, the epicentre of Boko Haram insurgency. The insurgents, according to Yohanna Isa, a Civilian JTF, are suspected of Boko Haram factional leader Abubakar Shekau hibernating in Sambisa Forest. Isa added that; “The terrorists burst from the eastern flank of Sambisa, before killing two people. They also looted the village and torched it, before fleeing into the forests. “The village has been reduced to ashes,” explaining that half a dozen of villagers were also injured. He said many residents had to flee to nearby Chibok town for safety. Yakubu Hassan, a resident also lamented that the insurgents took all their food and livestock and burnt their village. “We have nothing to fall on; after this attack and destruction to lives and property,” said Hassan. It was also learnt that troops were stationed in Chibok since the abduction of schoolgirls on April 14, 2014. Boko Haram insurgents continue to launch attacks on communities on the fringes of Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad Region. Last Saturday, the terrorists torched three neighbouring villages near Maiduguri, the state capital. They also hacked a dozen farmers to death in Kalle community, while working on their farmlands on Saturday.
