It is no longer news that in trying to replace Diego costa who was Chelsea football club’s key striker in winning the championship last season, Chelsea confirmed their interest in signing Morata and agreement with Real Madrid over a possible move, which is subject to medicals. However, any moment from now he could be officially unveiled as a Chelsea’s signee.

Taking a closer look at the player Alvaro Morata, he is a 24 year-old Spanish international who has had quite a start in his footballing career. He is a Madrid native and of course started his footballing career from home as a youth player at Atletico Madrid, before moving to Getafe and his current club Real Madrid football club.

Morata’s personal history is not our focus today but knowing where he is coming from would help us understand what he brings to the pitch in terms of experience and quality. Chelsea football club is a relative big club in England no doubt. The team are the current defending champions of the English premier league, and they did accomplish that with skilled and influential Diego Costa as their point man.

Costa did not have a bad campaign last season, as he scored 20 goals and recorded seven assists, which equals his debut season records in terms of goals scored, but seemed to have fallen out of favour with the team’s manager Antonio Conte who was alleged to have made this known to the player via a text.

From this development, it became clear to football fans that Chelsea FC would be searching for a striker. The one name that constantly came up as replacement was former blues player Romelu Lukaku, who many of the fans would have loved to be back. However, to their disappointment he signed for Manchester United instead. Which left Chelsea with looking at the next available choices like Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Morata (who was initially United’s target) and Andrea Belotti.

Ironically, with the pending confirmation of Alvaro Morata it is clear that Manchester United and Chelsea have signed the strikers the other wants more. Though Morata did not play much part in Real Madrid’s successful campaign last season, he was able to record 15 goals and 4 assists with not featuring so much for the side.

Morata is an intelligent, quick and smart striker, who is also a polished finisher in front of goal. He also has the height advantage in his favour, which could come in handy when facing the usual aggressive Premier league defenders.

However, he is not in the same realm of Lukaku or Costa now, Morata is a vital striker who delivers when called upon for big games. With the little opportunities given, Morata has shown he is hungry for improvement and prepared for the challenges ahead. Not forgetting the fact that he has at one time played under Chelsea’s current manager back in Juventus while on loan. So definitely, Morata is a perfect fit for Chelsea as they aim to defend the English Premier League title and their re-entry into the UEFA Champions league in the upcoming season.
