UNILORIN TO ENHANCE STUDENTS CREATIVITY IN PHOTOGRAPHY

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Age AbdulKareem has reiterated the commitment of the University to enhance and promote students creativity towards showcasing their talents to the outside world.

Professor AbdulKareem represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Innovation and Technology, Professor Gabriel Olatunji gave the assurance at the second edition of Foto Clique, the Convergence and Photography Exhibition of the two hundred level students of the Department of Mass Communication of the University.
The Vice Chancellor charged the Department of Mass Communication to involve foreign missions in the subsequent editions for them to participate fully and showcase the works of the students to the outside world.
According to him, the photography exhibition is relevant to all disciplines of life including medicine, law  and for climate predictions.
Professor AbdulKareem noted that the beauty of showcasing the nature, various events and happenings in the country would attract investment from outside world.
He said that the management of the University would continue to support the department and lauded the staff as well as students for carrying out such creative work.
In his address, the Head of Department of Mass Communication of the Institution, Doctor Sallah Saudat Abdulbaqi said students of the department were engaged in development communication, pointing out that the department is planning to shoot a documentary for the institution.
Doctor Abdulbaqi appealed to the management of the University to invest more in the department to enable it carry out more innovative and developmental programmes.
Earlier, the Convener of the Foto Clique and a lecturer in the department of Mass Communication, Doctor Kehinde Khadijat Kadiri, said her passion for photography made her to introduce photography exhibition as a practical work for photo journalism students of the department to expose them to photography.
Doctor Kadiri who is a skilled humanitarian photographer, noted that accomplished photographers across the country were invited to serve as evaluators and educate the students on the potentials in photography.
