TROOPS KILL THREE TERRORISTS, RESCUE 95 CAPTIVES IN BORNO

Troops of 112 Task Force Battalion and 22 Brigade, Nigerian Army have killed three terrorists on Saturday in patrol clearance operations in Kobe-Boboshe axis of Borno state. The coordinated joint military operations with Civilian JTF; led to the rescue of 95 captives, comprising women, children and men from two villages; earlier claimed by Boko Haram. In a statement Monday in Maiduguri, Spokesman of Army, Col. Sagir Musa, disclosed that the troops discovered a newly established camp at Dubula village with visible bicycle and motorcycle tracks. He said the camp was destroyed, with the killing of a terrorist, while attempting to escape. On recovered items, Musa said: “Two terrorists’ flags, two copies of Quran, a generator set and two bicycles. “Additionally, 13 women and 26 children were also rescued during the Kobe-Boboshe axis operation in Borno. “Troops also neutralised the fleeing terrorists. During the operation, two men, 29 women and 25 were also rescued. “Other items recovered include two boxes filled with Quran, two terrorists’ flags, five bicycles, five SIM cards of different networks and associated clothing materials.” He said that 24 of the rescued children were immunized against polio by the Nigerian Army Regimental Medical Officers. According to him, the insurgents had been employing women and children as farm slaves (labourers) on their farmlands. He said the engagement of captives, was to meet challenges of feeding Boko Haram fighters in Sambisa Forest, Lake Chad region and Mandara Hills.
