PRESS RELEASE BY AFENIFERE

Date:

Ekiti state: The Yoruba sociopolitical  and cultural organization, Ekiti state chapter has condemned the Broadcasting service of Ekiti state and its management for its unprofessional and unethical behavior by its refusal to let the people of Ekiti know about the release of the 82 Chibok girls in all its news broadcast since Saturday.

Afenifere described the action as jejune and paranoid as well as wicked to shut the people of the state who had been praying for a time like this to come.

The organization wondered how a management comprising fathers and mothers be angry with the release of a whooping 82 girls from captivity after 3 years just because the government they are serving is being controlled by opposition party to Abuja.

What does that mean for pure news to break and for a so-called news station to black the greatest news out.

This is more so when almost all radio and television stations in Nigeria are celebrating it even including the official opposition stations. It is our view that Ekiti State Broadcasting service should not play politics of hate to this level where people would be questioning whether there is no person who has a heart of kindness in the station…

Signed Chief Biodun Akin-Fasae, Publicity Secretary*
