MAIDUGURI DEATH TOLL BLASTS RISES TO 21, WOUND 26 RESIDENTS

The death toll from multiple suicide bombings at Muna Garage in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital has hit 21, as three more died at University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) and State’s
Specialists Hospital, after being admitted for sustained injuries on Wednesday night.
Chairman of the UMTH Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Bashir Tahir disclosed this Thursday in Maiduguri, while briefing journalists on the state of five bomb blasts survivors admitted at the hospital for
treatments.
The Borno State Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu; had yesterday confirmed 18 persons killed and 29 others wounded after four suicide bombers hit the Muna Garage mosque.
The remains of the deceased were given mass burials by rescue team of  State’s Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on Bama road, cemetery. “Two more persons died while on admission in this hospital and State’s Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, but the three patients are responding to treatment,” said Dr. Tahir
He said the deceased suffered from internal injuries and bleeding. Abdullahi Danbatta, the head of rescue team of SEMA, said they had evacuated 24 injured persons to the Specialist Hospital.
He said that one of the patients died at the hospital. Chukwu said that the first explosion occurred at a prayer ground while three other explosions occurred at different locations in the community.
“A total of 18 persons, including the four suicide bombers died, and 29 others sustained injuries in the multiple explosions,” he said.
